Preview: Norwich City vs West Brom FA Cup

Norwich City look to translate their good form in the Championship to the FA Cup this weekend as they take on West Brom at home. 

The Canaries have been enjoying a prolonged spell of success under manager Phillipe Clement since his arrival in November, losing only one match in their last nine games.

The Canaries come into this game with confidence thanks to a 3-0 win away at Oxford United in midweek. New signing striker Mohamed Toure scored a hat trick to make it four goals in only two games since arriving in January from Danish club Randers. 

West Brom have seen quite the opposite of fortunes, with new manager Eric Ramsey still yet to see his club win since his arrival in January. The Baggies haven’t scored in their last three matches with their past two results being 0-0 draws, most recently against Birmingham on Tuesday night.

The last time these two sides met was in January where Norwich ran riot at the Hawthorns. A 5-0 win for Clement’s side that is sure to be a harsh memory in the minds for West Brom.

West Brom come into this fixture with one new injury with defender Chris Mepham picking up a hamstring injury in their game against Stoke on Saturday. Both Mepham and centre back George Campbell are set to return towards the end of the month.

For Norwich their injury situation continues to get worse as Phillipe Clement confirmed in-form striker Jovon Makama would be out for the rest of the season with a broken foot.

Clement said: “Jov broke a bone in his foot so he will be out probably until the end of the season.” He joins a long list of the Carrow Road walking wounded, which currently sits at 11.

Norwich centre back Jose Cordoba is the one to watch in this game. The Panama international has blossomed under the new management and has now earned his place back in the starting 11.

West Brom haven’t had much to celebrate this season, but defender Nat Phillips could be the foil to Norwich’s attack. The former Liverpool centre back has been the one consistent factor in the Baggies defence, and will want to make amends for the previous result against Norwich.
