There are few things worse, as a football fan, than not knowing the score of an important game - but maybe one of them is knowing that you're one nil down and then, because of a lack of signal, you can't find out what's happening.

I don't want to Giffgaff a lot of money to just stream the game on my phone. And despite the modern miracle of technology, we couldn't heear the soothing voice of Chris Goreham giving us the latest of what is happening at Carrow Road.

This was my reality when Norwich played Coventry at home in the '24/25 Championship season. I was on my way back to university after the Christmas break with my dad. We had chosen that Saturday for two reasons.

One was that it was the only time my dad would be able to actually drive me back to my accommodation in Leicester.

The second was that we already knew we weren't going to beat Coventry. There seemed little point of even trying to believe we could win.

As much as Norwich were a team in form at the time, and Coventry weren't, we knew that was only part of the story. Coventry had a better team and we knew our obvious tactics would be easily countered by their quick strikers.

We'd hardly left Norwich and we were being proven effortlessly right. Coventry took the lead before half time due to Milan Van Ewijk and they had been strong at the back for the entire game. At that point, most fans are just waiting for the final whistle.

I was back in my student accommodation, which was dark and lonely, and I didn't even bother putting the game on. Why would I? It's about to be the 90th minute and we aren't really that type of team to make a thrilling comeback in injury time, not anymore.

But this is football. This is Norwich, the most pervese team in the four Enlglish leagues. How wrong I turned out to be.

*** Amankwah Forson scored a screamer to equalise the game and grab us a point. I'm celebrating, Norwich fans are celebrating, everyone's happy with a good point at home against a strong side.

Not Forson. though.

One wasn't enough for the Canaries, and Onel Hernandez and Amankwah Forson would link up and Forson would do the unthinkable. Norwich City 2-1 Coventry City.

And I screamed.

It was the type of goal at the type of time where people would run around shirtless and be screaming as loud as they can no matter where in the world they are. Fist pumping in the air and going absolutely insane. Now imagine that in a dark university flat where I am the only person inside as the rest of my flatmates are yet to return.

Yeah it's a bit sad but I regret absolutely nothing.

Why should I? I mean if you were that down and convinced you weren't going to win on a three hour car journey back to university, it's safe to say you would be fairly happy as well when your team snags a late victory from the jaws of defeat.

My dad didn't even get to see the final score until he finally got home a few hours later, and I got messages of ecstasy from him. Turns out a three hour car journey can make all of the difference in football.
